New York Travel Guide: Central Park & Upper East Side

Travel Guides Feb 5, 2019

The last of my guides to New York, it makes me think it’s time to book another trip!

Last but not least on my list of itineraries for this amazing city is Central Park and the Upper East Side. No doubt you’ll want to spend a decent amount of time in this glorious park – no matter the season it’s a beautiful, awe inspiring feat of town planning.Ā Stretching from Midtown to Harlem, it’s basically a little city in itself, and definitely somewhere you will want to spend some time. The surrounding neighbourhood of the Upper East Side is grand and gorgeous and also worth at least a day of wandering, Ā for its amazing galleries alone!

Eat & Drink

Drop into The Loeb Boat House for a fancy lunch, or have a glass of wine on the pier.

Have a cocktail at the Bemelmans Bar inside The Carlye Hotel.

Have a classic burger at J G Melon.

Have coffee and cake at Cafe Sabarsky.

Have breakfast at Irving Farm.

See & Do

Hire a bike or dust of your comfiest shoes and explore Central Park. On one day we started at the bottom and worked our way up, and on another day we caught a train about half way up and explored some of the other end.

We Ā rented a rowboat from the Loeb Boathouse, it felt a little cheesy but we loved it!

Explore the Conservatory Gardens, the only formal gardens in Central Park.

I you are around in summer, take a picnic and bask in the sunshine on Sheep Meadow or the Great Lawn.

Visit The Guggenheim.

Check out the cabinet of Curiosities that is Creel & Gow.

Explore Central Park either by walking or riding a bike. It’s so huge that you will obviously want to spend a whole day exploring.

Hire a boat on

The Frick CollectionĀ is in reference to Henry Frick, who previously owned a 18th century French inspired mansion, now transformed museum. Showcasing his extensive (and not to mention, impressive) Art collection.

If you haven’t done enough galleries, check out The Met!

While away the hours at this bookshop.

Indulging in a glass of wine and some people watching…
