Best collection of the whole of Fashion Month? For me it has to be Carven. Ok, so I know that’s a big call, but I challenge you to find another show with such perfectly measured ingredients. Dainty collars, digitised tribal and aztec prints, cut outs, lace inserts, embellished ikat shoes, technicolour backpacks, leather harnesses and a palette of reds, pinks, yellows and mustards. How Carven did all that without over-doing it is a mystery to me, but it works.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a favourite if it didn’t inspire a million different DIY ideas – so look forward to seeing a heap of cut outs, bright collars, embellished shoes and lace inserts here in the months to come. Why wait for these pieces to hit the stores in Feb/March next year when you can DIY them yourself? The whole seasonal thing has become so blurry to me that I have no problem mixing summer and winter colours.

Fishtail or ‘high-low’ skirts have been cropping up everywhere recently, and what’s not to love about this sexy take on the maxi/midi skirt? A number of different ‘ mini at the front, maxi at the back’ styles came down the runway at the recent Jason Wu SS12 show, and they struck me as being extremely easy to make. These images were the inspiration behind a DIYproject that I’ll be showing you later on this week, so stay tuned.
How amazing is the poofy tiered pink skirt that looks like a wedding cake?

Put your hand up if you D.I.E.D when you saw this neon yellow necklace on the runway at the Sass & Bide SS12 RTW show? Ummm me me me! Well good news - on the weekend I got crafty and created my own collar version which I’ll be posting shortly. If you follow me on instagram (username: apairandaspare) you will’ve already seen a sneakpeak. Once I get some pics of me wearing it I’ll be posting, along with a tutorial!
