You’ll be no stranger to my love of all things related to plants, which is ironic given that I live in a tiny apartment with not so much as a square inch of soil to rest my feet on… But, I’m all about making the best of any situation, and so I’ve become an indoor plant addict.
So when Nespresso recently offered to help me host a little get together with my friends in the studio to celebrate the launch of their new Essenza Mini machine, (their smallest model yet and perfectly suited to people in apartments or with not a lot of space) I was excited to share this idea with you. A DIY hanging plant centerpiece that helps to bring the outdoors into your dining room, something that’s very much needed when you don’t have an outdoor space… Or even if you do have one!
DIY Hanging Plant Centerpiece
First you want to decide on the placement of the centerpiece. I suggest you align it down the middle of your table but that may depend on where you can attach it to the wall, curtain rail or picture rail.
Next, make your easy rope plant holders. Take four pieces of rope that are each two metres in length (approx 2.2 yards). Fold them in half.
Once you have made the planters, add them to the hanging centrepiece. Finally, set your table, extract your coffee and enjoy!
On The Table
To stay on theme with the greenery, we added some natural place mats, mint plates and wooden small plates, and topped it off with gold cutlery and copper planters down the centre. We also printed off mini plant guide illustrations for everyone to take home as a little keepsake, with some plant care tips on the back!
Eats & Drinks
And what do you eat at a green breakfast? Avo toast of course 🙂 Along with coffees done so many different ways. I introduced my friends to my yummy coconut latte recipe – I make it by putting coconut milk into the milk frother! So delicious.
The Coffee Corner
The Essenza machine is so small (loving the minimalist design!) that you could pretty much put it anywhere, but we decided to create a little outdoor inspired box shelf corner next to the table set up. In the corner we’ve included my collection of ceramic cups, coffee pods (with the same delicious Nespresso coffee – my favourite is Ristretto) and machine, everything you need at your fingertips! Including, of course, a box in which to put my used capsules so they can be easily recycled (make sure you recycle yours too!).
