DIY STUD BUTTON SILK SHIRT
5th March 2013
Do you ever have times when you sorely want to get crafty but don’t have the time or the energy? Even though I pretty much live and breathe DIY, it happens to the best of us believe me! This simple project is for those times – giving you the satisfaction of wearing something you’ve made with your own two hands, without working those fingers to the bone to achieve it. Super simple, super cute. What more could you ask for?
You need:
- a white shirt (mine is Madewell but I also like this one, this one and this one is the ultimate)
- a handful of prong backed pyramid studs
How to:
1. Making sure the shirt is done up, place the studs over the top of the buttons.
2. Press the prongs of the stud carefully under the buttons to secure.
Voila!

so creative, i love this

Easy and clever, I love it!
so just to check, you need a blouse that can fit over your head without the buttons?
Yep, but you can always put the shirt on and then close the top buttons and add the studs.
great way to simply spice a shirt up!

If I’m in that headspace I find it usually ends up with DIY don’t. I stand there with my destroyed creation and dread my mountain of clean up. It’s a good idea to take on something simple, as opposed to going overboard when you really have neither the energy or creativity. Thanks for sharing!
I love this.
such a good idea!
