DIY HOME: PAINTED PEACOCK CHAIR
18th March 2013
So often these days I’m struck by the fact that the furniture and homewares that my parents and their friends had in their houses when I was growing up would be worth a mint these days, particularly the gorgeous cane peacock chairs that no self respecting hippie household would have been without. Now days they’re available in various places online but I myself will continue to dream about finding one for a steal in a garage sale and giving it a bright lick of paint. Would you have one of these in your place?

I would definitely place a couple of these on my backyard patio!

Loved the pics!
I wanted one for so long, and I found it at an estate sale. It was on craigslist and there was a picture up online so I wanted to make sure I was there when it opened. It was $50 still pricey but I never knew when I would find another one. I am too scared to paint it but they look beautiful painted!
Love the colors and look of the chairs!

I’ve always loved cane/wicker furniture! I would love one in my home, I never thought about painting it neon or pastel colors though – wicked.

I would love to have one of these. More for the art and wonderful look than for comfort probably.
*gasp* the blue and orange one has such a beautiful weaving pattern!
I’ve never given peacock chairs a thought. Well if you put it this way, they actually seem cool!
OMG i can’t imagine that these are still around. I doubt i would be able to find one. when i was growing up everybody had one of these in their house. these would be amazing on a porch too.
My mom just gave THE reason why we can’t have a peacock chair.

There’s a movie from the old days, Emmanuelle, and it reminds her of that movie..
It’s an “adult” movie that everybody in Belgium has seen (who is +50)
I have 2 of these beautiful chairs in my home. One I found after exhaustive searches at garage sales and the other on the side of the road. I love them in their original state but am tempted to paint one bright yellow now that I’ve seen this. Gorgeous.
