DIY HOME: CLOTHING AS ARTWORK
6th March 2013
For some reason I can’t help myself but keep an eye out for fun and different approaches to artwork in the home, and I recently noticed people hanging their clothing as art on the walls – genius! These creative hangings of your favourite pieces of clothing add visual appeal to a room, and (bonus) vastly improve your cost per wear justifications. Perfect for those of us who buy elaborate pieces but end up wearing mainly denim shorts and converse in our day to day lives – dress your walls instead! Simply knock a few nails into the walls or hang your hangers over the front of doors around your house. Although it’s perhaps best to hold off adorning kitchen walls with your favourite silk dresses, unless of course eau de lamb chops gets you going.

I LOVE the yellow dress on the wall! And of course purses, accessories and shoes always make great decoration to any home

The yellow dress is my fave too, I wonder where we can get one? x
I love the idea of having a walk in wardrobe with my favourite pieces on display, something to work towards I guess!

A walk in wardrobe is to die for!
been there, done that – I have bunch of clothes and fabrics displayed everywhere in the apartment (it’s so small that every corner, door and wall is full). my usual decoration is the drying laundry
That sounds amazing Ivana. x

No me convence mucho esta forma de decorar, aunque todo dependería de la pieza de ropa y del decorador claro

Love that yellow dress.
I wouldn’t want me clothes to get dusty – how do you stop this other than having them in a bag which ruins the look?
Good point….. Not sure how you can get around that one!
Its cool to buy stuff when you go overseas and put thta on the wall.
I love this so pretty!

[...] Do you – or would you – display your clothing as artwork? [...]
mm, I love the second picture on the right. A gorgeous dress hanged on a plain, white door? Why not?
I love the picture with the yellow dress! So interesting and pretty.
Love the first two. The one with the red wall looks as if the clothing is ethnic. This would be awesome for those travel pieces you get and dont know how to wear! Amazing post!
Something to keep in mind when decorating with your clothes: sun exposure. You certainly wouldn’t want your great-aunt’s silk dress to faded by the sun!!!
