CROWDSOURCED DIY: SHEER WHITE
12th February 2013
Given the blanket of snow over much of the world I thought this would be an appropriate moment in which to show you one of my favourite (DIYable) trends for the coming Spring / Summer 13 season – sheer white. I know I said last week that you needn’t dive headlong into every trend that comes your way, but I think you’re definitely allowed to choose a few of your faves and absolutely go for it – particularly if you plan on DIYing them. Now, I’m currently deciding on how to make my sheer dreams a reality, and would love to hear your thoughts on the matter. What would you like to make (or see made) out of sheer whiteness this season? How would you do it? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
Inspiration from: Chloe #1 & #6, Stella McCartney #2, Cushnie et och #3, Preen #4 , Jason Wu #7, Maison Margiela #8,

I think white tulle would work great – still maintain the shape of the clothing item
I’ve loved the latice style cut outs on the chloe collection – can you do that? Pretty please?
They’re a fave of mine, I wonder how we could do that? xx
The white skirt with the sheeth of white is kinda cool, but its so cold where I am I cant imagine wearing any of this right now…
Hahahaha I know, fashion seasons are so confusing – the stores are all filled with summer gear already!
LOVE THE SHEER SLEEVES!!!
I like the wide split that has sheer mesh in it.
Me too, trying to work out how to make that
these are great inspirational photos! i’m on the hunt for some sheer white as well, and i’m really loving the layer action with opaque and sheer white in the same outfit. can’t wait to see the creations you come up with!
cheers,

I totally agree, I think the different types of layers create lots of interest in an outfit.

I love the Preen skirt, but perhaps a slightly toned down version would work better for me personally.
A simple white pencil mini/midi with an elongated hem of sheer white would be stunning. Or a simple white tee with sheer, boxy sleeves.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Me too! I’m looking forward to emulating this look.
I don’t wear a lot of white (bad with my skin tone) but I’m really intrigued by #4, mixing black, print, and sheer white. I also like the sheer part as an underlayer peeking out of the cutout skirt hem.
That’s my favourite look too, and I think it would be easy to do!
Love these sheer details!!! I would prefer it in a shirt/top…maybe at the back or on the sleeves.
