DIY SPIKED HEELS
29th February 2012
You need
- 6 cone spikes
- A pair of leather/ suede heels (these are Tony Bianco ‘Karr‘)
- Dart Awl hole making tool (makes life way easier!)
- A screwdriver
How to
1. Look at the seam at the back of your heels and mark with pencil where you want the spikes to sit. You want the spikes to sit apart so that there isn’t too much strain on the seam.
2. Using your hole making tool, push through the seam and wiggle to create a hole.
3. Push the screw through the hole, using a screwdriver to twist if it is difficult to get through.
4. Attach your spikes to the screw by twisting.
5. Use the screwdriver to tightly screw the studs on. Make sure the screws are flush with the leather so your the back of your heels don’t get irritated.
Voila, all done! Simple right?

Do the screws on the inside bother your feet at all?
I thought the same lol
You’re amazing. I’m serious.
http://thequietspaces.blogspot.com/
haha those looks slightly dangerous :p
love it but at the same time those screws in the back against my heel..ouch! if i try i may attempt to cover them somehow!
I would suggest you cover them if they are sticking out – mine were completely flush with the leather, and I cant feel them at all. Have worn them twice with no trouble.

I just made a lace skirt that looks like the one you’re wearing in the picture! You inspired me to take advantage of what Asia has to offer in terms of material and textiles, bought black lace and sewed it to a vintage black slip I already had. The project should be posted to my blog soon. Thanks for indirectly giving me this idea!

Wow sounds like a great project! So happy to hear I inspired you. Looking forward to seeing your project.
WOW, I love these, you’ve given me inspiration! x J
These are so amazing, one of the first DIY’s I’ve actually considered doing, however I am concerned that if I wore the shoes for more than 20 mins that the screws would irritate the skin on my ankles.. have you found this with your shoes’?
Love this DIY, simple and clean!
These are definitely the coolest heels I have seen in a while

It’s great, I love spiked shoes. I’m a lucky owner of a pair of Sam Edelman’s Lorissa pumps
Just one question, Do those screws on the heel hurt?
http://www.daretodiy.com
Nope mine don’t- the screws are completely flush with the leather – best to cover them with leather if you feel they will rub
If I had these heels I would definately feel safe being home alone at night time … they’re my very own personal weapon!

I wish my feet were not that small, so I could easily buy shoes to do DIYs with them.
They look amazing, but I should keep my one pair of plain heels like they are -.-
has the back of the screws ever scratch the back of your foot at all ?
Where did you buy your spikes? I’ve been looking to do something like this. By the way, great blog! I’m a new follower!
I looove this idea! I’m definitely going to do this!

Very creative!
These are gorgeous andI’ve been wanting to add spikes to my shoes for ages, but am a little scared, do the screws hurt on the inside of the shoe?
These are absolutely amazing. I’d say they look even better than the Sam Edelman version…too many spikes on those!
